196 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the private sector involvement, if any, he proposes for the building of a number of planned projects, for example, the D ring road; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26041/98]

Public private partnership (PPP) options generally involve the private sector in providing the following integrated services in relation to projects (a) design and build, DB, (b) design build and operate, DBO or (c) design build operate and finance, DBOF. It has already been decided that the following projects be undertaken on a PPP basis:

A number of other projects, including road projects in planning at NRA and local authority level, are under consideration for PPP and will be announced in due course as the planning of the various projects proceeds. NRA is also in discussion with National Tolls Roads Ltd., about the latter's proposals for a second bridge crossing at West Link on the existing C-Ring.
