58 Mr. Wall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if EU directives in the area of equality and protection of workers will be implemented by the new accession states which will join the EU early in the 21st century. [26101/98]
The question of whether EU directives in the areas concerned will be implemented by the new accession states is a matter for consideration by those states as part of their accession negotiations with the European Union. EU directives in the area of equality are the responsibility of my colleague, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
