Ceist:51 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Defence the expenditure increase proposed in the Defence Estimates for 1999 under subhead L for buildings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26711/98]
Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.
The provision for buildings under subhead L in my Department's Estimate for 1999 is £15.225 million, which represents a 3 per cent increase over the amount of the 1998 allocation of £14.76 million. The 1999 provision comprises £11.1 million in respect of capital expenditure and £4.125 million in respect of the maintenance of buildings. In addition a new provision of £6 million has been made under subhead V — barracks reinvestment programme — as a first phase in the application of the proceeds expected from the sale of barracks to the improvement of Defence Forces' infrastructure.
