127 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of work permits granted in each month from July 1997 to October 1998; the category of work for which the work permits were granted; the nationality of the people; and the lifetime of each permit. [26949/98]
Details of the number of work permits granted in each month from July 1997 to October 1998 are set out in the following Table 1.
The category of work for which the permits were granted and the nationality of people in respect of whom work permits are issued are compiled on a cumulative annual basis. The full listings for the years 1997 and 1998 to date are set out in Tables 2 and 3 respectively.
The period of validity of the permit varies between one month and a maximum of one year. The vast majority of permits are issued for a period of one year.
