Vol. 498 No. 4

Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Beverley Flynn

Ceist:

259 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will clean the canal from the Salmon Weir Bridge in Ballinrobe to the Iron Bridge, County Mayo (details supplied). [27251/98]

From the details supplied it would appear that what is being sought is the cleaning of a stretch of the River Robe, under the Corrib-Mask-Robe drainage scheme, from the Salmon Weir in Ballinrobe upstream for a distance of 850 metres to the Iron Foot Bridge.

The Office of Public Works has already carried out major refurishment works on the sluice gates on both sides of the Salmon Weir so that, from a drainage point of view, no cleaning works are required at present on this stretch of the river.
