Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

171 Mr. Stagg asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when payment will be made to a firm (details supplied) out of the insolvency fund which will enable it to make payment to workers who lost their jobs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1876/99]

All applications made to my Department under the redundancy payments Acts in respect of former employees of the company in question have been paid.

The liquidator of the company has applied under the insolvency payments scheme for funds to pay 13 former employees their entitlements in respect of arrears of wages and holiday pay. These claims were received on various dates between 14 December 1998 and 20 January 1999.

Two claims have been paid. Queries have been raised on others through the liquidator and as soon as the required information is received, the processing of the claims will proceed.
