Vol. 499 No. 3

Written Answers - Tax Allowances.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

224 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 4 will be removed from the emergency tax bracket, placed on the appropriate tax band and issued with a tax refund. [2687/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that on 22 December 1998 the Inspector of Taxes received notification from the taxpayer that she had commenced her current employment on 6 October 1998. A certificate of tax free allowances granting the taxpayer the appropriate personal allowances for the 1998/99 tax year was issued to her on 8 January, 1999.

The taxpayer's employer has confirmed that the certificate has been implemented and the taxpayer is no longer on emergency tax. Any refund of tax which may have been due would have been made by the employer on operation of the certificate of tax free allowances.
