246 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people in his Department working on the year 2000 computer issue who will qualify for special bonuses; the grades of the people concerned; and the sums payable in this regard. [2667/99]
The number of IT staff currently spending at least a proportion of their time on year 2000 computer issues as covered by the terms set out in the guidelines recently issued by the Department of Finance is 13, broken down by grade as follows: six higher executive officers, four executive officers and three clerical officers.
As staffing requirements to deal with this issue are being reviewed on an ongoing basis, it is not possible to indicate the exact sums payable in this regard. However, these payments will be made by lump sum on a pro rata basis in April 2000 to eligible officers.
