Vol. 499 No. 3

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

260 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the works which will be carried out in 1999 under the extension of services for projects relating to Nenagh sewerage scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2531/99]

I approved the preparation of contract documents for the following advance sections of the Nenagh sewerage scheme last September: (a) extension of foul sewer to Ballygraigue, (b) storm water drainage and improvements at Clareen stream, (c) extension of foul sewer from McDonagh Park to Limerick Road, (d) improvement works on Gortlandroe stream from Nenagh River to McDonagh Park and (e) improvement works on Gortlandroe stream from McDonagh Park to Limerick Road.

The elements at (c) and (e) above, costing an estimated £663,000, have been included for funding under the serviced land initiative while the other elements, estimated to cost £2.1 million, are listed to start construction in my Department's 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme. Also included in the programme to start construction this year are improvements to the treatment plant, costing an estimated £300,000.
