Vol. 500 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rehabilitation Services.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

174 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the funding given to organisations which provide rehabilitative services for offenders or ex-offenders. [3748/99]

The Probation and Welfare Service of my Department has developed a range of probation residences, training workshops and resource centres throughout the country to support the work of the service in the community.

The Probation and Welfare Service of my Department provides funding to specialised facilities which provide rehabilitative services for offenders and ex-offenders. The provisional expenditure in 1998 for these facilities are listed in the following schedule.

The majority of the projects direct their attention to the 15-25 age group and are primarily focused on those offenders placed on supervision by the courts to the probation and welfare service.
