Ceist:

189 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of new programmes such as anti-drug abuse, European language and the relationship and sexuality programme which have been introduced or pil oted at primary and post primary level since 1990. [3828/99]

The programmes listed hereunder, 17 in total, have been introduced or piloted at primary and post primary level since 1990:

Primary Level: early start – pre-primary – pilot project, breaking the cycle pilot project, support teacher pilot project, child abuse prevention programme, modern languages pilot project.

Post Primary Level: junior certificate school programme, civic, social and political education, leaving certificate programme, leaving certificate vocational programme, leaving certificate applied programme, revised transition year programme.

Programmes Common to Both Levels: home school community liaison scheme, 8 to 15 year old early school leaver pilot project, relationships and sexuality programme, Irish network of health promoting schools, substance misuse prevention programme and schools IT 2000.
