As with all our missions abroad, I keep under regular review the size and staffing level of the Embassy in Beijing. The overall question of Irelands political and economic strategy in Asia, including the level of our diplomatic represen tation, has recently been studied at the request of the Taoiseach by a group representing relevant Departments, State agencies and the private sector. The issue will shortly be considered by the Government. The future level of Irish representation in China will take account of the approach adopted by the Government.
