Ceist:

405 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a request from the board of management of Boherbue comprehensive school, County Cork, for an extension; the position regarding this proposed extension; and if he will make moneys available in the current financial year to enable the works proceed. [5159/99]

An extension is currently being planned for Boherbue comprehensive school, County Cork.

My Department is currently awaiting receipt of the combined stage 4/5 submission that is detail design/contract documents. When this submission has been received and approved, the project will be ready to proceed to tender.

The question of funding will only arise following the placing of the contract and the start of construction. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence.

Ceist:

406 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, submitted to his Department for improvements and extension to Millstreet community school, County Cork; and the position regarding this proposed extension. [5164/99]

Officials from the planning and building unit of my Department visited Millstreet community school on 27 January 1999 and met with the school authorities and the design team. It was agreed that the design team would prepare a report with costings outlining the refurbishment works required at the school. This report was submitted to my Department on 19 February 1999 and is currently being evaluated by my Department's technical staff.

A meeting has been arranged for 23 February 1999 between officials from my Department, the school authorities and the design team in order to discuss this report and progress the project further.

With regard to the application for additional accommodation, the educational worksheet was forwarded from the school recently and the accommodation requirements of the school are currently being evaluated. A response will issue to the school authorities as soon as possible.
