Vol. 500 No. 7

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

298 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children if a representative from each county will be included on the South-Eastern Health Board co-ordinating committee for people with physical and sensory disabilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4810/99]

In accordance with the recommendations of the report, "Towards an Independent Future", membership of co-ordinating committees for physical and sensory disability services comprises officers of health boards and representatives nominated by certain voluntary sector service providers, the Disability Federation of Ireland, the National Rehabilitation Board and the Irish Council of People with Disabilities.

In the circumstances, neither my Department nor the South-Eastern Health Board would be in a position to meet the Deputy's request.
