Vol. 501 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

317 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason no action was taken in relation to a Garda investigation into complaints from school children in a school (details supplied) in County Offaly when it was discovered that the relevant file had disappeared; the action, if any, being taken to establish from where and when this file was lost or stolen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5745/99]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that a preliminary investigation has failed to establish that a file in this matter has disappeared. No information as to the disappearance or theft of any such file has been discovered.

I am informed that the Garda Síochána are prepared to meet the Deputy to discuss any further information he may have, in order that the matter can be investigated to a conclusion.
