Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to inform the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McGinley – the inconvenience caused to the people of west Donegal since the abolition of District Court sittings in Dunfanaghy, Falcarragh, Bunbeg and Dungloe; (2) Deputy Briscoe – the entitlement of pensioners to the free television licence from the date of their 66th birthday; (3) Deputy Fitzgerald – the urgent need to improve services for the adult homeless in Dublin; (4) Deputy Michael Kitt – an exemption for schools who use televisions for educational purposes from the need to have a television licence; (5) Deputy Ring – the response by EUROSTAT to the Government's application for Objective One status for the 15 western, midland and Border counties; (6) Deputy Howlin – the urgent need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to clarify the Government's position regarding granting asylum seekers the right to work while their applications are being processed; (7) Deputies Coveney and Clune – the loss of 60 to 120 jobs in Bourns Electronics Ireland, Mahon, Cork, the security of the remaining jobs and the proposals to find replace ment jobs; (8) Deputy Allen – the financial difficulties being experienced by the organisers of the Cork city St. Patrick's Day parade; (9) Deputy O'Sullivan – the measures the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform intends to take to counter the widespread discrimination and marginalisation that exists in Ireland, as evidenced by the recent survey conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, Western Province; (10) Deputy Stanton – the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to secure a replacement company to continue vegetable processing in Midleton, following the announcement by Universal Foods Limited that it intends to close its vegetable freezing plant; (11) Deputy Wall – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the current and future level of funding available for support groups for children suffering from AD/HD; (12) Deputy Penrose – the operation of the grant scheme for well boring and upgrading, whereby applicants are being refused where their water supply is shared with neighbours; (13) Deputy Creed – the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to refuse to conclude negotiations on EU funding until a comprehensive appraisal of the compromise proposals and their impact on the economy has been undertaken; and (14) Deputy Gormley – the urgent need to retain the full services of the haematology unit in Tallaght Hospital for children with leukaemia.

The matters raised by Deputies Coveney and Clune, Fitzgerald, Briscoe and Howlin have been selected for discussion.
