54 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the consideration, if any, he has given to the submission made to him by the National Children's Nurseries Association concerning planning permission for child care facilities; the plans, if any, he has to issue guidelines to planning authorities regarding the planning process for child care services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is participating in the interdepartmental committee which has recently commenced work on a White Paper on a national child care strategy which will address all issues in relation to the provision of child care facilities, including the need to provide national guidelines on planning permission for child care facilities. I intend to consider the issues raised by the National Children's Nurseries Association in that context.
