The provision of services at St Colman's Hospital, Rathdrum is the responsibility of the Eastern Health Board. I understand that the hospital provides a range of services for older people including persons with Alzheimer's disease. These services include assessment, rehabilitation, respite/intermittent care, welfare, day care and residential care.
The Eastern Health Board in conjunction with the local community is currently considering the hospital's priority needs which include the provision of additional day space for Alzheimer/ dementia patients. The board has informed me that it will not be requesting funding for this proposal from my Department and should funding be required it will be obtained by way of voluntary donations.
I am not aware of any correspondence to me in relation to St Colman's Hospital which has not been answered.
