Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

426 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the allocation of a remedial teacher for St. Mary's national school, Malin, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6986/99]

I understand that following a review of remedial teaching services in the area in question, arrangements were made last September for the inclusion of St. Mary's national school in a revised cluster of schools served by a remedial teacher. However, I further understand that some difficulties have since arisen in relation to the arrangement in question.

A member of my Department's inspectorate will shortly visit St. Mary's national school and the other schools involved in the cluster to resolve any difficulties which exist. I can assure the Deputy that it is my intention to ensure that every first and second level school in the country will have access to a remedial service from September next.
