Vol. 502 No. 2

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

99 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when work will commence on the restoration of Doneraile courthouse, Doneraile, County Cork; the amount of money which she has committed to the project; the amount spent to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7491/99]

In order to secure the integrity of Doneraile court, it is proposed to re-roof the building. Tender documents are almost completed and it is hoped that the work will go to tender in the near future. Following evaluation of the quotations submitted, a contract should be placed by June next and the works completed by the end of the year.

A sum of £450,000, increased from an original provision of £350,000, has been allocated to the project from EU Structural Funds (operational programme for tourism) and to date just over £31,000 has been spent.
