Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

John Bruton

Ceist:

397 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of funds allocated to the North Eastern Health Board in 1998 and to date in 1999 towards the housing aid scheme for the elderly; the amount of funding allocated to projects in Meath in 1998; the location of the schemes; the amount of money estimated to be spent in 1999 in Meath on the housing scheme for the elderly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7595/99]

A total of £535,000 for the operation of the scheme of special housing aid for the elderly was allocated in 1998 to the North-Eastern Health Board by the task force, which, under the aegis of my Department, administers the scheme. An initial allocation of £500,000 for 1999 has been notified to the health board and a further allocation will issue later in the year.

Detailed information in relation to the operation of the scheme is not available in the Department, as the scheme is operated at local level by the health boards.
