Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

56 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the recent positive developments, if any, arising from exploration in respect of natural gas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8689/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 55 and 56 together.

As regards petroleum, since I answered similar questions from the Deputy on 11 February, 1999, PQ Nos. 61, 62 and 63 refer, Enterprise Oil have indicated that they are planning to drill a further appraisal well this year in the Corrib gas field and Marathon have recently confirmed that they are proceeding with plans to develop the south west lobe of the Kinsale Head gasfield. There has been no change in the situation with regard to non-petroleum minerals since the replies of 11 February 1999.
