68 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to authorise Fingal County Council to pay arrears of pension payments to retired workers of the council as was done by Dublin Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8624/99]

Under my Department's circular letter S.7/87 of the 2 June 1987, local authorities are authorised to increase the pensions of retired workers in line with general and special pay increases granted to serving employees.
