Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

John Perry

Ceist:

398 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 148 of 10 March 1999, a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will be called for a driving test in view of the fact he has secured employment and needs a licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10049/99]

A test appointment for 6 May 1999 is being issued to this person.

John Perry

Ceist:

399 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a full driving licence will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the fact that she had serious medical and family problems and forgot to apply within the time limits; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10059/99]

Under the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1989 this person would have had two years following the issuing of her certificate of competency on 26 March 1997 in which to submit that certificate to the licensing authority in support of an application for a full driving licence. I regret it is not possible to rectify the expiry of a certificate of competency. My Department will, however, arrange for an early driving test for the person if she submits a further application.
