518 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the steps, if any, being taken to cater for athletes with disabilities in the national coaching development programme being organised by the Sports Council. [10299/99]
One of the goals of the national coaching development programme which is run by the National Coaching and Training Centre is to promote and facilitate the greater involvement of people with a disability in sports participation and coaching.
A special group on the integration of people with a disability into sport has been established in the NCTC to oversee the development of materials for introductory, level 1 and level 2 coaching courses.
Coaching course modules have been, and are being developed, with governing bodies of sport aimed at promoting ease of access and the integration in sport for people with a disability.
