577 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of sites being accessed for the new secondary school which will amalgamate Banada secondary school, Marist Convent, Tubbercurry, County Sligo which is necessary for the growing population and the development in the area; the amount of funds allocated; when work will commence; the timescale for the project; the date of the official opening; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It has been agreed that a community school will be provided to meet post-primary requirements in the Tubbercurry area.

My Department is currently investigating the availability of sites. When negotiations are completed the question of initiating architectural planning will be addressed. At this stage it is too early to outline a timescale for the commencement of construction or a date for occupation of the school.
