Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Stanton – the urgent need for the Government to make more information available on the state of readiness of Government Departments and agencies with regard to the year 2000 computer problem; (2) Deputy Durkan – the refusal by the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs to pay a one parent family allowance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; (3) Deputy Jim Higgins – the urgent need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to ensure that the IDA and Forbairt seek a replacement industry following the announced closure of TJT Limited, Kiltimagh, County Mayo; (4) Deputy Browne (Wexford)– the need to appoint extra veterinary inspectors to County Wexford to enable owners of meat processing factories to operate to departmental standards and new meat processing licence applications to commence operations; (5) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister to clarify his position on the three-in-one vaccine consequent on his reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 175 to 179 of 11 May 1999; (6) Deputy Sheehan – the serious incident involving a Schull based fishing trawler which sank off Loop Head after a collision with a French trawler on 15 May; (7) Deputy Deenihan – the necessity to provide a community hospital in Tralee, County Kerry, which is the only town of its size in Ireland without such a facility for its senior citizens; (8) Deputy McGrath – the need for funding to provide a gymnasium and additional facilities for the teaching of science at Loreto college, Mullingar.

The matters raised by Deputies Jim Higgins, Sheehan, Durkan and McGrath have been selected for discussion.
