Ceist:

122 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the state of readiness of his Department with regard to the year 2000 computer issue; if he will report on the position in relation to hardware and software; if a statement of compliance of readiness has been issued; if not, if and when such a statement will be issued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. All central computer hardware in my Department is currently compliant. An ongoing project to make personal computers compliant will be completed this month.

My Department's action plan covering computer and embedded systems is progressing with a current completion date of end July 1999.

It is expected that all fatal and critical software systems will be either modified or replaced to achieve compliance by end June 1999.
