Vol. 505 No. 2

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

Derek McDowell

Ceist:

49 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Defence the steps, if any, being taken in relation to the dispute involving fire crews at Baldonnel Airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13177/99]

A number of personnel of the crash rescue service at Casement Aerodrome did not, as a result of illness, report for duty on Thursday 13 May which resulted in flight operations at the aerodrome being restricted to ensure that full safety requirements were met. Flight operations returned to normal the following day and continue to operate normally. Some difficulties have been experienced in the rostering of these personnel and this and other aspects of the crash rescue service are being examined to ensure that satisfactory arrangements for the provision of a full crash rescue service are put in place.
