Vol. 505 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

124 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the assistance, if any, he can give to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in relation to her income tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13595/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that remuneration due to the taxpayer in the 1998/99 tax year was paid by her employer in 1999-2000. As a consequence, the taxpayer's income in the first four weeks of 1999/2000 was greater than her tax free allowances for that period from £17.48 PAYE and £7.20 PRSI were deducted. However, as the taxpayer's income for the year is not expected to exceed her total tax free allowances, the income tax deducted will be refunded by her employer in subsequent pay cheques.

With regard to the PRSI deducted, the taxpayer should apply to the office of the Collector General, PRG section, Sarsfield House, Limerick for a refund.
