37 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when it is proposed to display the national geological display in Collins Barracks; the progress, to date in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14700/99]

The National Museum intends to allocate space for exhibitions on the theme of earth science in a proposed new building in Collins Barracks which should be ready to house displays in 2003.

The proposed earth science gallery will allow for the proper public exhibition of elements of the national geological collection for the first time in the history of the State.
