Vol. 506 No. 1

Written Answers. - Company Viability.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

39 Mr. Aylward asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties of a company (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and the steps, if any, she will take to ensure the future viability of this company. [14807/99]

I understand there have been discussions between Enterprise Ireland and the company in question about investment and other measures required to improve competitiveness and safeguard employment. The parent company involved is undertaking a review of the future investment requirements of several of its European plants, including the Irish plant, in the light of changing market and competing demands for capital. Enterprise Ireland is keeping in close touch with developments.
