Vol. 506 No. 1

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Services.

David Stanton

Ceist:

64 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 40 of 27 May 1999, he will give details of the additional resources made available by his Department to the Southern Health Board in respect of orthodontic services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14783/99]

Funding of more than £200,000 is being provided annually to the Southern Health Board under the dental health action plan for the provision of three additional dental teams, that is, three dental surgeons and three dental surgery assistants and support staff to provide services under the consultant orthodontist in the orthodontic unit at St. Finbarr's Hospital.

Capital funding was also provided in 1992 to enable the board to provide a fully equipped orthodontic unit in refurbished premises at St. Finbarr's Hospital.
