Vol. 506 No. 1

Written Answers. - Private Rented Accommodation.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

76 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 is entitled to receive a rent book from her landlord; and, if so, the remedy open to her if he refuses. [14770/99]

The Housing (Rent Books) Regulations, 1993, (S.I. No. 146 of 1993) require the provision of rent books in respect of all lettings of dwellings with the exception of holiday lettings and formerly rent controlled dwellings. Article 10 of the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Regulations, 1982, (S.I. No. 217 of 1982) requires the provision of rent books in respect of formerly rent controlled dwellings. Enforcement of the regulations is a matter for the local authority, in this case Dublin Corporation, and the matter should be taken up with the corporation.
