My Department is fully committed to the ongoing provision of teaching staff for St. Francis Training Centre in Cork. I am anxious to preserve the approach being adopted currently within the centre where a variety of agencies contribute funds, expertise and vision towards an integrated multi-faceted response to the needs of young people at risk. I have asked the VEC to engage in discussions locally as to how this diversity can be preserved while putting the overall management and funding of activities on a more structured and transparent basis within the context of an integrated area-based approach. A meeting on this issue has been arranged to take place in the next few days.
