Vol. 507 No. 2

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

306 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the grants, if any, available to a person (details supplied) in Dublin who is a third level second year student at UCD. [16755/99]

Under the terms of the higher education grant scheme, maintenance grants are tenable in respect of approved full-time undergraduate courses of not less than two years duration and approved full-time postgraduate courses.

My officials have contacted both Dublin Corporation and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and I understand that there is no record of an application under the higher education grants scheme having been received from this student. Accordingly, she should be advised to apply to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in order to have her eligibility for a third level maintenance grant assessed.
