Ceist:

466 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if financial provision is being made to provide for increases in pensions of retired nurses in accordance with pay and pension parity policy applicable to all retired public service personnel in view of the recent Labour Court award recommending increases in salaries of nursing staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the Labour Court award in question was issued on 31 August 1999 and has been rejected by the nursing unions. The implications of the award for retired nurses have not yet been fully worked out.
