576 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the special local government funding, if any, for local authority parks and environmental works to mark the millennium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17630/99]
While there is no special funding available from my Department for local authority parks and environmental works to mark the millennium, the new local government funding system that came into effect from 1 January 1999 provides significant additional funding to local authorities for discretionary use.
