613 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of personnel in the traveller accommodation unit in his Department; the plans, if any, he has to expand this unit in view of the implementation of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Six members of staff are assigned to the traveller accommodation unit of my Department. The services of the professional technical staff of my Department are also available to the unit as the need arises.
The number of personnel assigned to the unit takes account of requirements arising from the implementation of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998, which was enacted in July 1998.
