Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Traffic Wardens.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

759 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position on the transfer of the traffic warden function and personnel from his Department to Dublin Corporation or the other local authorities; and when the Labour Relations Commission will adjudicate on this issue. [17637/99]

Nora Owen

Ceist:

765 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the up to date position regarding the transfer of traffic wardens from his Department to Dublin Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17902/99]

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

771 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the current position regarding the Dublin traffic warden service; the outstanding issues to be resolved; and the proposals, if any, he has for dealing with these issues. [17908/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 759, 765 and 771 together.

The transfer of the traffic warden service to Dublin Corporation has not yet been effected since the traffic warden unions have indicated their non-acceptance of the terms of the transfer. Officials from my Department have been trying to resolve the situation and in this regard, they have been in contact with Dublin Corporation and the Department of the Environment and Local Government with a view to progressing the matter. These discussions are ongoing and are looking at all realistic options to effect the transfer of the traffic warden service to Dublin Corporation.
