I have already indicated in reply to Question No. 205 of 1 July 1999 that commencement of certain sections of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act, 1994, which require the making of regulations or orders by me as Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, is the subject of ongoing review in my Department and any decisions made in respect of them will be announced in the normal way.
I assume the particular section of the Act of 1994 referred to by the Deputy is section 70, which provides for the incorporation of solicitors' practices. Operation of that section is dependent on the making of regulations by the Law Society on the basis of the concurrence of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform being given after consultation with the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. No request for concurrence in the making of such regulations has been made to date.
