Vol. 508 No. 3

Written Answers - Vaccination Programme.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

226 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the contact, if any, his Department has made with the parents of 295 children vaccinated with the Trivax three-in-one vaccine from batch No. 3741; the action, if any, taken in relation to the vaccination of these children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19006/99]

My Department is awaiting final responses from two of the health boards concerning the examin ation of their immunisation records in relation to the extent to which three-in-one vaccine from certain lots produced from batch 3741 was used in the period 1968 to 1970. The boards have been asked to respond as quickly as possible in order that consideration of this matter can be finalised. When final responses have been received from all the health boards my Department will consider what, if any, further action is appropriate in the matter.

Ceist:

227 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 151 of 25 May 1999, the additional information, if any, he has received from the Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19007/99]

The Eastern Health Board has indicated that it is not in a position to provide any additional information in relation to the matter raised in the Deputy's previous question.

Ceist:

228 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 150 and 152 of 25 May 1999, the additional information, if any, he has received from the Wellcome Foundation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19008/99]

Subsequent to the answering of the questions to which the Deputy refers, my Department again contacted Glaxo Wellcome with a view to establishing whether the company could provide any additional information. The company has responded indicating that it has no information in relation to the distribution of batch 3732 and that it has made every effort to provide as much information as possible to my Department in response to queries regarding the Trivax vaccine. In the circumstances I do not anticipate receiving any further information from the company in relation to these matters.
