341 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department received a submission from an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 3 for grant assistance; and, if so, his response to its request. [19056/99]
An application for funding under the 1999 sports capital programme was received from the club concerned.
Approximately 1,900 applications were received under the programme and following assessment, grants were allocated to 406 projects throughout the country in July last. However, it was not possible to grant aid this club and my Department has recently written to them explaining why they were not successful.
I expect to be advertising details of the programme for 2000 before year end and it will be open to the club to re-apply.
