117 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has received proposals from CIÉ for expenditure for additional bus and rail capacity; and the steps, if any, she has taken to provide finance to ensure the early commissioning of substantial additional buses, garage facilities, information systems, rail cars and ticketing equipment. As part of the preparatory work for the national development plan 2000-6, CIE, at my request, submitted a series of investment needs reviews for bus and rail services. The Dublin Transportation Office also submitted its proposals in the transportation blueprint 2000-06. These documents included proposals relating to the matters referred to in the Deputy's question. These documents provided the background to my Department's submission on the public transport investment element of the national plan. I expect that the details of the plan will be finalised in the coming weeks.
