Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Voluntary Housing Scheme.

John Browne

Ceist:

253 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason his Department and Wexford County Council are refusing to sanction a voluntary housing scheme at Tagoat, County Wexford, in spite of the fact that two tenders were received complying with all the regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19861/99]

My Department approved the making of a loan of £350,000 by Wexford County Council to Tagoat Community Housing Association for this project on 30 October 1992. The housing association did not proceed with the project at the time and the council submitted a revised loan application to my Department in August, 1999. My Department sought clarification on aspects of the documentation supplied. The council advised that the tendering procedures were not in accordance with the rules of public procurement and I understand that the council have requested the association to re-advertise for tenders.
