Ceist:73 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if schools in the Gaeltacht areas will be allowed the same pupil-teacher ratio as gaelscoileanna. [20172/99]
Written Answers. - Pupil-Teacher Ratio.
As the Deputy is aware, gaelscoileanna have traditionally enjoyed a favourable staffing schedule relative to other primary schools, including those located in the Gaeltacht.
However, I have been conscious of the unique position of those schools situated in Gaeltacht areas, and of the particular problems that they experience as a result of losing teaching posts.
Therefore, I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I have recently decided that the staffing schedule for the retention of posts in gaelscoileanna will in future be applied to Gaeltacht schools.
