Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

244 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an extensification grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21483/99]

Extensification premium is paid on all animals paid under the suckler cow and special beef premium schemes if the stocking density on the holding is less than 1.40 livestock units per hectare.

The person named applied for, and was paid on, 1998 special beef premium as follows:

No application was made under the 1998 suckler cow or ewe premium schemes and the person named had no milk quota. The person named declared 35.81 hectares on his 1998 area aid application. The stocking density on the holding is calculated by dividing the total livestock units by the hectares (50.2/35.81) giving a stocking density of 1.40Lu/Hectare. As the stocking density on the holding is not less than 1.40 Lus/Ha the person named has no entitlement to 1998 extensification premium.
