Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Ceist:

428 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the Baldoyle flood relief scheme; the reason for the delay in the completion of the scheme; the works to be carried out; the cost involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21504/99]

This scheme, estimated to cost £4.7 million, is included in my Department's 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to commence construction. An advance section involving the construc tion of a new outfall adjacent to the existing outfall at Mayne Bridge is expected to start in November 1999.

The main section of the scheme involves the construction of a new pumping station at Admiral Park, additional pipelines to the pumping station, a sea outfall and embankment at the southern end of the former Baldoyle racecourse and a rising main from the pumping station, via the racecourse, to the sea. Contract documents for the main section are expected to be submitted to my Department by Fingal County Council by the end of 1999.
