Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Keaveney – the need for immediate action on the need for improved access to Donegal through road, rail and aeroplane to assist in job creation initiatives; (2) Deputy Allen – the refusal by the Department of Education and Science to offer school transport to nine children from the Glanmire-Knockraha area attending St. Aloysius' college, Carrigtwohill, County Cork; (3) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need for additional caretaking services at both Pope John Paul national school and St. Sylvester's infant national school, Malahide; (4) Deputy Farrelly – the need to provide sufficient remedial teachers in primary schools in County Meath; (5) Deputy O'Shea – the need to provide permanent funding for the Waterford Centre for Independent Living; (6) Deputy Clune – the need to address low voter turnout at elections following the recent poll of 30 per cent in the Dublin South-Central by-election and the publication of the National Youth Council of Ireland survey of young voters; (7) Deputy Ellis – the recent closure of Leitrim Foods and the efforts being made to find a replacement industry; (8) Deputy Gormley – the need to reconsider the removal from health stores of a range of health products, including St. John's Wort; (9) Deputy Neville – the death by suicide on 23 October last at St. Bridget's hospital, Ballinasloe; (10) Deputy Kirk – the need for an urgent review of Garda strength in the mid-Louth area in view of the growth in anti-social behaviour; (11) Deputy Olivia Mitchell – the urgent need for Government funding to construct the essential link from Dundrum to the southern cross motorway; (12) Deputy McManus – the increase in waiting lists for in-patient and out-patient services in our hospitals arising from the nurses' dispute and the need for the Government to provide additional resources to deal with the backlog, and (13) Deputy Perry – the granting of city status to Sligo in the millennium year.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Shea, Kirk, Allen and Farrelly have been selected for discussion.
