186 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the number of tenders received for the provision of the bovine animal birth registration and passport issue systems; the name of the groups who tendered; if these tenders have been evaluated; if not, when the decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. While for reasons of confidentiality I do not propose to name the companies that tendered, I can confirm that three tenders were received by my Department for the provision of the bovine animal birth registration and passport issue systems.
All the tenders received were examined by an evaluation group set up within my Department by reference to the various award criteria outlined in the request for tender document.
The contract was awarded to SWS, Bandon, County Cork, as they were deemed by the group to have best demonstrated in their tender document the ability to operate the registration and passport issue systems outlined in the request for tender document.
